Alex Bowman breaks down his plans after NASCAR retirement
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Hendrick Motorsports is the most accomplished team in the NASCAR Cup Series, and only an elite set of drivers have ever been able to drive for the 14-time champions. Alex Bowman is one of the team’s current four-star drivers. A proven race winner, Bowman has recently revealed his plans after the inevitable NASCAR retirement.

The 30-year-old has at least half a decade of racing ahead of him in the top division, and he hopes to end his career as a Champion with HMS.  Bowman wants to enjoy life on the road post-NASCAR retirement and plans to race in the World of Outlaws series. One of his main motives was the move to explore the USA.

I think as long as I’m able to, as soon as I’m done Cup racing…I’d love to do the Outlaw Tour. I mean, the areas of the country that I’ve never been to, that I wanna see, the life on the road, kind of all of it. I want to do it for sure. It’s gonna happen unless there’s a reason it can’t.

Bowman said via the DIRTRACKR podcast.

Bowman’s HMS career has been special. He replaced two of the biggest stars of the sport at HMS. The Arizona native joined the team in 2018, replacing Dale Earnhardt Jr. to drive the No:88 Chevy, and in 2021, he was moved to the No:48 Chevy as the replacement of Jimmie Johnson.

The 2023 season has been a nightmare for Alex Bowman

Alex Bowman experienced his worst season in the top tier in 2023. He failed to secure a single win this season and ended the year with just 10 Top-10 finishes from 32 starts he made in the Cup series. At the same time, his teammates Kyle Larson and Willaim Byron scored ten combined wins and got into the Championship-4.

The major reason for his disappointing performance was the momentum-killing injury. He broke his back after an accident during a High Limit Racing Series event. It’s a sprint car racing series owned by his teammate Kyle Larson.

Going into the 2024 season, Bowman hopes to have an impressive season and end his winless streak. He has to prove his worth once again with a playoff entry and has shown that he is dedicated to the cause by confirming that he has sidelined all other racing activities outside NASCAR.
